We are a birding lodge that started in 2020, during a world pandemic! We found this gem property right next to the Largest Private Reserve in Costa Rica, the Children's Eternal Rainforest! + than 23,000Ha of protected land home to a lot of wildlife with no crowds.

Behind Birds & Breakfast is Marce Villalobos & Fabio Araya both Costa Ricans, professionals with more than 15 years on the tourism industry. Fabio has been researching and protecting wildlife since 2006, Marce is more into accounts and the administrative part of business. Together we offer an experience abour a stay in a rustic lodge surrounded by a lush jungle and as our name says it to enjoy breakfast while birdwatching! We have counted only from our backyard more than 280 different species of birds.

We also run birding tours and night walks, we departure every day at 6am to go spot toucans, tanagers, parrots, hummingbirds among other colorful birds. And then in the evening we go to see frogs, insects and sometimes even reptiles! Both tours are highly recommended to nature lovers and photographers. If you are more keen into other adventures, we can also arrange for you zipline, canyoneering or cultural type of experiences such a chocolate & coffee or farm tours.

The B&B experience is available all over Costa Rica! We have partners located in the Wetlands, Highlands (Cloud Forest), Dry Forest in Guanacaste, Northern Plains and also in Osa Peninsula. Just DM us your dream location and we will take care of the rest! Keeping the same concept on each location, enjoying wildlife in a safe & secluded environment away from the crowds & the rush of most touristy/commercial areas in Costa Rica.

Last, but not least! Your stay here at the B&B headquarters will be supporting the conservation work at the reserve right next to us. We donate a percentage of each stay to them, in rewards for protecting all the nature around us. Also, the non-profit organization Caracaracr that protects an endangered species of falcon as each room is decorated and named after a poster from them. All of our souvenirs are made from artists on the area that you can visit and keep supporting them!
